Merrivale Model Village

We’re not being funny but what with Merrivale Model Village’s pint-sized cricket pitch, handy little railway line, half-timbered and Georgian houses and rather charming tiny little antique shops, were we 5cm high we might rather like to relocate here. Kids simply adore the novelty of seeing everything in miniature and hoof it around pressing every button possible, which sends tiny Morris dancers reeling, cars and trams into motion and train engines chuffing along the tracks through village scenes. Who can resist the tiny damsel in distress waving from the castle turrets at the knight about to joust in her honour and the daring wee firemen battling a blaze threatening to damage this rural idyll.The whole thing is set on the (real-life) seafront within flower-bedecked gardens and is utterly delightful. Indoors, there’s more to see including a mini Buckingham Palace and life-size replicas of the coronation crown jewels.
