You know this is going to be fun from the minute the car winds into Exploration Drive and you spot the splendid Rocket Tower thrusting skywards. And you’d be right. Wander through the darkness of the stellarium, stare in awe through six galleries of interactive space fun and make postcards of yourself jumping on the moon. In short, you will be entertained for hours inside this paean to scientific space research which manages to turn almost incomprehensible data into bite-sized chunks of fascinating stuff about constellations, solar systems and planets. Don’t go home without trying the 3D Space Simulator in Human Spaceflights: Lunar Base 2025 which is a blast. Tickets can be validated to last for 12 months.
National Space Centre is part of the following Editors' Picks:
Top Ten Easter Attractions for Families by Kathryn Miller
"Fire their imagination at the National Space Centre. After an introduction to the solar system in the Planetarium, take a 3D ride from Earth to the Moon and beyond then explore the many hands-on, space-themed challenges and exhibits, such as how stars and galaxies are discovered, how a spacecraft works, how black holes work and how to use a telescope. The special event this Easter holiday is food-themed Gastronauts: in the demo kitchen families can learn about the science behind baking, cheesemaking, jams and preserves, and there are daily talks on the science of food, for example why astronauts need to eat specially prepared food. Easter events run until April 14 2013."
