Buckingham Palace


Buckingham Palace was built in 1703 for the Duke of Buckingham and was made the royal family´s principal residence by Queen Victoria in 1837. It is now the official London residence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and serves as both home and office. The Palace is furnished and decorated with priceless works of art and the 19 State Rooms are open to the public for 8 weeks of the year. The State Rooms are used regularly by the Queen and members of the Royal family to recieve and entertain guests on official, State and ceremonial occasions.
